What are the Rules I must know before joining?

Yes, we know this is long... bear with us. It will make your list experience that much more enriching if you know all this mumbo-jumbo in advance.

(Very important rules are written in BOLD)

SMRFF - The Sailor Moon Romantic Fan Fiction Mailing List. Basically, this is a rather large group of very talkitive people (We're talking a lot of mail, here, people) who believe that Usagi and Mamoru (Serena and Darien for all you dubbies) are *the* perfect couple.

The members of the list are open to send fics, read fics, reply/comment, discuss types/aspects of fics and or the show itself, as well as the random few OT conversations. This list has currently around 300-plus members, some of which are new authors, well known authors, and a lot of fans who just love a little romance. ^^

Currently the list is involved in several projects and several fics in progress. The greatest compliment, IMHO, that we have received so far, is on how friendly and kind everyone is. They're a very welcoming bunch, really friendly, and they just love to give feedback. A lot of new members have been really happy to find out just how supportive these guys are!

A note before you post to the list - any fics posted to the SMRFF list will be automatically posted on the SMRFF fic archive mentioned at the bottom of this page, unless you specifically mention that you do not want it posted there at the begining of the fic. Any fan fictions with offensive content (I.e language, situation, etc) should be rated in the subject line, and at the beginning of the e-mail with spoiler space left.

The archive has some rules about what kinds of fics they will post... this is how the SMRFF differs from mass archives like fanfiction.net and ASMR. Be sure to read these guidelines before posting a fic to be archived, especially for holidays.

To Subscribe: To subscribe, you must have an account here (free). You can choose whatever you want options wise, but you absolutely must sign up there to recieve the mail.

Rules etc: There aren't very many rules on SMRFF, just five main ones, and a few loose follow-if-you-really-want-to-save-us-time rules.

The never-break rules are:

No Mamoru/Darien bashing: bash the voice actors, bash dub, bash Seiya, just don't lay one little finger on my dear Mamo-chan. This list is completely Mamoru-Usagi supportive. This also means that if you write a fic, Usagi/Serena should _NOT_ , in the end, dump Mamo-chan for someone else. If it's a romance, we expect them to get together and that's final.

No Usagi Bashing: bash the voice actors, bash Toei, bash Diamond, just don't lay one single finger on our favorite Odango. Basically, Usagi was meant to be with Mamoru, and if she ends up with someone else, or you insult her in regular messages (For instance, flames), we'll get very mad. Especially the DRUF side of the list. Think of the list as the actually Druf/Dmuf tribes, and you'll get along fine.

No Hentai: If you plan on posting an Eechi/Hentai/lemon/lime fic, please ask first, and if given permission, type [Hentai] [NC-17] in the subject of the e-mail, and leave spoiler space of at least one page at the top. We've got children on the list ladies and gents, and they really don't need to be exposed to that kind of thing. If you want people on the list to read it anyway, maybe EA or Bej will take it under 'Stories Unlisted' at the archive.

Respect the Mods: MK (List-Mama) is usually pretty tolerant, but get on her bad side and you'll have a rabid MK haunting you forever. QS, on the other hand, is very straightforward and she'll let you know it. Ely is the 'approachable' mod, as QS says, meaning she's easier to talk to about sensitive things. But don't get her mad either. All in all, don't be afraid to come to the mods when you have a problem. That's what we're here for.

No Forwards or SPAM: This is a fan fiction and discussion list, if you want to send crud to people on list, ask them first and send it to them personally - offlist.

Make your Messages Longer Than Your Sig: There's a lot of mail on this list, it's been up and around a hundred messages a day at one point, and a lot of people don't want to read pointless one-liners. Therefore, if you are sending a message, make sure it's longer than your individual signature is, that does not include the automatic sig. This means that sigs should be short and too the point.

Also, whenever possible (But not always, this is looser) try to send your fan fic replies directly to the author, not the list k?

The list greeters/defenders of the Rules are me, Azurite, Klutz/MK/Moon Klutz, (owner of the list and all around world ruler) QS-sama, Elysia, kii, and all other mods or Board Members.

The basic, more detailed rules are as follows:

If sending an off-topic e-mail to the list, type [OT] before your subject. OT messages aren't often appreciated. For the most part, ask or send it to the Message Board.

We have a noise list to send totally random, non-Sailormoon related posts, or discussions that become too lengthy for the normal list.

If planning on sending a fic not focused on M/U, S/D, ask first, then send. Most people follow this rule. It can also be e-mailed to smrff.archive@gmail.com with the subject 'Stories Unlisted' to be placed in the archive, but not on list if it doesn't adhere to the usual rules.

Shameless Plugs are allowed only on the Message Board or in your signature. If you'd like to post something but aren't sure, ask me first. Poetry being sent to the list should have [Poetry] as the first thing in the subject. The [smrff] that goes in front of each subject is automatic, don't worry about it.

To send mail: Address it to smrff@yahoogroups.com and it'll go to the entire list.

Replying: Replies are automatically sent to the list, so if you want to keep it private, change the e-mail addy. Replies or feedback for fanfiction is generally appreaciated more if it is condensed into one e-mail. Try to post all your replies in one e-mail rather than several!

Replies to any topics that say [ADMIN] at the begining should be sent Off-list, directly to the person you're replying to, unless that admin has specified otherwise.

Online SMRFF Fic Archives? ^^ The smrff fanfic archives are currently not up just yet.  Be patient? :)
