This is a short (and I do mean short) non Usa/Mamo fic, something I rarely do, so don't stone me, okay? I wouldn't exactly call this a self- insertion fic, but more of a exploring my alter-ego. *sweatdrop* After watching the SuperS season, it begged to be written, but even if you haven't seen it, you'll understand. This is set sometime in the late 30th century, just so you know. Shocking disclaimer: I have yet to meet anyone that actually owns SM, but I'm proud to say that I now own the RPG book. ^_^ That's all I have to say about that. Within the World of Dreams 1/1 By Sailor Elysia [ely_chan@yahoo.com] Rating: G, would it be anything else? "Are you going to visit her again?" I asked my friend and mentor, though I already knew the answer. I could tell by his smile and the way he was fiddling with the sash of his best tunic, the one he always wore when he was going to see his beloved. His small grin grew twice its size. "Hai, Elysia, I am, which means you'll be in charge again while I'm away." He stopped and looked me over. "That fuku suits you well, you know. You make a fine guardian, Elysia. I know the World of Dreams will be safe under your watch." I blushed from Elios' praise and gazed at the long staff in my left hand, then down at my fuku. I was only an apprentice to the guardian of Elysion, but I hoped and longed for the day when I might join the ranks of the other senshi, the ones who ruled over Crystal Tokyo on Earth along with the King and Queen. I had heard numerous stories and seen plenty of pictures, but had never left the dream world to actually meet them. To be associated with the likes of them was my own dream, one that I had to be patient for. But at the same time, this assignment was my destiny. I had always been told I had been born for this very purpose, to solely guard Elysion one day in the future. When it would happen, I didn't actually know, but training under the tutelage of Elios had prepared me for nearly anything. I followed Elios to the edge of Elysion, to the place of his departure. Before he left, I called out, "Give my best regards to Small Lady, and the rest of the royal court!" He smiled his quirky smile, and Nodded once. Then with a flash of golden light, he was gone. I stared at the place he had been for a moment, then slowly began my way back to the gate. Perhaps one day, I would go to Crystal Tokyo as well. Another month had passed and Elios was preparing to go visit his princess again. It was his promise to her after all, that he would see her as often as he could. And every time he went, I was left in charge. Guarding the World of Dreams was not the easiest job in the world, but it definitely was a challenging one. Before I became the sole apprentice to Elios, my job was to stand guard at the gate, making sure no bad dreams found their way into Elysion. It was known as Paradise for a reason, and I was determined to keep it that way. Elios came to me that day with an announcement that shocked me. "The Neo-Queen and King wish for you to accompany me this time, Elysia-san." "Why?" I sputtered. "What did I do?" Elios threw back his head and laughed. "You did nothing wrong, Elysia. I think I've spoken of you so much to everyone that they want to meet you now." I don't think I had even known nervousness until that moment. "What will I say to them? How should I act? What will I wear?" He laughed again. "Don't worry so much, just leave things to me. And I think you should wear your fuku. Though you are not exactly a senshi in Earth terms, it shows how loyal you are to your duties." I calmed myself down, and looked at my mentor. "When do we leave?" "Right now, if you're ready." Taking my hand, we were enveloped in that same golden light and we left the World of Dreams behind for Earth. I stared around at my surroundings in awe. I had never seen places as beautiful as this before, except for in the most beautiful dreams in Elysion. I had no idea anything like this existed on Earth. And so many people! It was so exciting and overwhelming at the same time. I followed Elios down the enormous hall in the Crystal Palace; the sides lined with people gawking at us. They recognized Elios, but had no idea what to think of me. I hid my Dream Staff because I didn't know if I would need it, but I always had it on me just in case. As we were escorted into the Throne Room, I felt the butterflies in my stomach fluttering rapidly again. Even though Elios was with me, I didn't know what to do. Closer and closer we walked, until we were at the foot of the Neo-Queen and King's throne. Elios went down on one knee, and I quickly did the same. I had never been trained in these sorts of situations, and I was scared that I might mess up. I glanced up briefly in the Neo-Queen's direction. Oh, she was as beautiful as I had imagined her to be! And the King! She was lucky to have such a handsome man for a husband. Off to the side of the Queen, I saw her and smiled. Small Lady Serenity, Elios' princess. No wonder he was smitten with her. I had heard all the stories of how she helped him save Elysion and Earth when she was just a child, and now to be in their presence. . . it was my dream come true. "Rise, Elios-san, Elysia. You know you don't need to bow to us," came the soft reply from the Neo-Queen. We rose, and I raised my eyes to look at the others standing around us. Seven other senshi stood at guard, and I could name them all with one glance. They were legends to me, something I hoped to become. Suddenly I felt ashamed to be standing there among them in a senshi fuku. I had done nothing to earn this; I was just a simple apprentice. Who was I to assume I could ever become one of them? "Elysia, please come forward." Neo-Queen Serenity's gentle voice brought me out of my thoughts. She rose out of her seat, and came down the platform to stand in front of me. "Elios has spoken very highly of you to all of us, and now I can see why." I ducked my head in embarrassment. "And now that Elios has asked for Small Lady's hand in marriage--" I gasped and whipped around to stare with widened eyes at my friend and mentor. He caught my gaze, blushed and smiled sheepishly. "Now that Elios has asked for Small Lady's hand in marriage and she has accepted," Serenity continued, "A new guardian must be chosen to watch over Elysion. You, Elysia, have been chosen to take Elios' place." My ears heard every word, but my heart and mind couldn't believe what had just happened. I knew that I was destined to guard Elysion one day, but now? It was too soon! Turning again to look at Elios, I began to protest. "I'm not ready for this, Elios-san. I don't know everything, I can't do this by myself!" He placed a reassuring hand on my arm, and looked calmly into my eyes. "You are more ready than you'll ever be, Elysia. I have taught you everything I know. It's time." Taking my hand, he removed something from his pocket and placed it my hand. I opened my palm to find the Golden Crystal lying there. With wide eyes, I couldn't believe all this was happening to me. The Golden Crystal was the source of Elysion's power, and now I held that power in my hand. "Do you have your Dream Staff with you?" he asked. I nodded, and brought it out of its hiding place. He took the Golden Crystal and the staff from my hands and placed it in a small indentation on the top of the staff, similar to the way Sailor Pluto's time staff held the Garnet Orb. He handed the staff back to me, and as I grasped it, I felt a warm energy flow within me, startling me because I had never felt this way before. "Now you have the power of the Golden Crystal at your command. It will work the same for you as it did for me," Elios announced. I closed my eyes, letting the magic of the Golden Crystal envelop my body. As I opened them again, Elios looked at me and smiled one last time. "You know what to do." I nodded. "Arigato, Elios-san, for everything you have taught me. Make sure you bring Small Lady to visit once in a while." With that, I called on the Golden Crystal, and with its power, transported myself back to the World of Dreams to begin guarding it on my own. === That wasn't too bad, now was it? C & C are welcome; flames will be used to melt the remaining snow on the front lawn. ^_^ Ja ne! Sailor Elysia Copyright (c) February 2000
